Stofresh is a ‘store and sell’ solution for smallholder farmers that gives them access to shared cold storage facilities and a market via USSD technology. The main innovator, Charles Oyamo and the team charge farmers to store their produce and are also building a sales commission model for vendors on our platform. The team received USD 2000 which they re-invested in the innovation.
It is a solution that is recreating the African food system by creating a marketplace that enables farmers to aggregate produce at source, save cost and reduce post-harvest losses. It enables farmers to create credit scoring data and receive financial services.
Farmers are empowered through an efficient and user-friendly system that leverages a USSD interface supported by a robust network of agents. Aggregation and supply chain algorithm helps to forecast demand and harvest trends, which helps in organizing logistics more effectively.
Other distinct features include digital payments, ability for farmers to buy farming inputs and even pay in instalments, opportunity for both food distributors and retailers to leverage the platform for business growth.
Stofresh is making it possible for smallholder farmers to get loans and make more money with the goal of building a fresh food supply system that is less wasteful and more sustainable.
