The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology - NM-NAIST
The Centre of Excellence for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in East Africa is hosted at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in Arusha, a member of the network of Pan-African Institutions of Science and Technology located across Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).
These institutions, envisioned by the late Nelson Mandela, aim to train and develop the next generation of African scientists and engineers, with a view to impacting on the continent’s development through the application of Science, Engineering and Technology and Innovation (SETI).
The NM-AIST, which is accredited by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU), is evolving into a world-class research-intensive institution for postgraduate and post-doctoral studies in SETI, however.
Our programs integrate relevant business studies and humanities, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. Strong academia-industry relations are central to NM-AIST’s mission, supporting sustainable development across SSA. We are committed to nurturing the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit of the Y-generation for the benefit of Africa’s future.
