Applied Master Of Science In Embedded And Mobile Systems (MSc Emos)

The EMoS Programme is designed to produce graduates competent in
Embedded and Mobile Systems. Students following this programme will study a variety of courses that will enable them to develop capability in a wide scope of information, Embedded and Mobile communication and telecommunications which is interdisciplinary.

The master’s programme is open to candidates who possess minimum qualifications in relevant fields as stipulated in the NM-AIST admission and registration requirements.

After the mandatory common and programme core courses, students who will be admitted into this programme will specialize in one of the following areas:

Embedded Systems (ES)

Embedded Systems are specialized computer systems designed to perform dedicated functions within larger physical systems, which can be mechanical, electrical, chemical, or a blend thereof. These systems often operate under real-time constraints and are integral to cyber-physical devices that combine software, digital hardware, sensors, actuators, and networking capabilities (e.g., Internet of Things). Embedded systems control many devices in common use today, forming the backbone of future smart physical systems. Notably, 98% of all microprocessors are manufactured as components of embedded systems.

Mobile Computing

Mobile Computing enables data, voice, and video transmission via a computer without requiring a fixed physical connection.
This field encompasses:
Mobile Communication: Involving ad hoc and infrastructure networks, communication properties, protocols, data formats, and concrete technologies.
Mobile Hardware: Including mobile devices or device components.
Mobile Software: Focusing on the characteristics and requirements of mobile applications.

With the approval of the respective departments, students may choose elective courses from a pool of prescribed courses and/or some core courses from within and/or outside EMoS.

Practical training and fieldwork

For the field attachment (Outreach/Internship program); each student must complete at least four (4) weeks of field attachment in companies, innovation/incubation centres or any other organisation in the field relevant to student’s specialisations in embedded and mobile systems.
